Here’s another band who don’t seem to be active in the last couple of years and in all truth, I’ve not listened to in a little while. However in producing this list I’ve gone through my earlier posts and Softspot were a band who jumped out of the page. I was completely smitten with them in the earlier part of the decade. Listening to their debut Enso again reminds me why…
"The Cleansing Hour" sums up a wonderfully layered sound that is never in a hurry. The track is an absolutely beauty which slowly builds upon mournful shades of melancholic guitar and a metronomic drum beat around Sarah's haunting vocals.
Then suddenly at the three minute point light is finally allowed to win and the track blossoms with Softspot's signature cataclysm of sumptuous, shimmering sounds, it is carefully crafted and majestic.
Here’s one trip down memory lane I was glad to make, perhaps you should too.
