The Sinclair Sinclair #9 - Prangli

Facebook

The Sinclair Sinclair are a wonderful, wonderful band I've featured here time and time again, I don't quite give them the praise they deserve and their debut album Breaking The Waves didn't feature in my finest releases of 2015 (even though it was one of my favourites albums) because both their debut EP and LP came out through my own little record label Beautiful Strange and I don't agree with praising something you are financially invested in, consider this post a little advert then...

"Prangli" is a track taken from the aforementioned Breaking The Waves and this week a gorgeously tranquil video was released for the track by Johanna Pikver (whom produced the album artwork also) and Marit Sukk. Go and watch it below to be transported to the hauntingly beautiful Estonian island in the Gulf of Finland (on my next trip to Tallinn I really must visit myself!).

Breaking the Waves is out now via all the usual streaming places with a white vinyl LP available via Beautiful Strange's Bandcamp.

The Sinclair Sinclair #8 - Breaking The Waves

As ever when it's a release through my label,  a self-disclosure and a lack of superlatives.

The Sinclair Sinclair are due to release their debut album Breaking The Waves on June 1st through my own little label Beautiful Strange. The album will be released digitally and on white 12" vinyl. You can pre-order it via Bandcamp. The band talk about the record below:

‘Recording “Breaking the Waves” was a long process for us. When starting almost two years ago we decided to record only in a certain atmosphere that would make us unrestricted.

On this record you can feel the velvety reverberations of old panel buildings, listen to passionate rehearsal room drum jams and delve deep into the melancholic vocals that translate an autumn loneliness of a small island in the Gulf of Finland into sentences.

If you are curious to know what the aforementioned soundscapes translate into then listen to the title track. It’s a soundtrack for the nights when all of nature sleeps under a deep sheet of snow as quietly as if the world ended at the horizon.

Listen to "Breaking The Waves" via Soundcloud. Please feel free to share

The Sinclair Sinclair #7 - Cosmos

I'm always at a little bit of a quandary on how to post these posts, I'm always upfront about the fact that it is a song/ep/album being released on my own label Beautiful Strange, but it feels a little bit off to be too glowing with praise as it's so close to home and self-praise is the same as no praise. Anyway, I'll give you the facts and hope you find it of interest, if you want to share the news, well, that would be great.

“Cosmos” is the first track to be heard from The Sinclair Sinclair in 2015 and is released as a digital single via Beautiful Strange tomorrow, March 9th ahead of the release of the quartet’s debut album Breaking the Waves, due June 1st. The band talk about the record below:

Any support you give it is appreciated. The next posting will be nothing to do with me, I promise!

The Sinclair Sinclair #6 - Cosmos

A very welcome back to Tallinn's The Sinclair Sinclair whom return with a wonderful new 'live' video "Cosmos", expanding on their ethereal debut EP The Dreamer of the Dreams and the beautiful shrouded haze of "Paradise" with a stronger and dynamic live sound.

There's this otherworldly synth loop throughout which adds an eerie flavour of the track as it slowly builds from minimalist beginnings and Keit's soft-focus vocals before exploding amongst a soaring high of rushing guitars and driving drums beats - it's pretty awesome. The back drop of the video looks equally stunning too.

Long term readers of this blog will be aware this a band I love, lots, you really, really should too. Check out "Cosmos" below.

The Sinclair Sinclair #5 - Paradise

You've possibly heard me going on about The Sinclair Sinclair before now, a Tallinn based quartet whom first featured here in late 2012 after I fell in love with the intoxicating, dreamlike promise of their debut track "Feel". Repeated postings followed and a relationship formed which led me to release the bands heavenly debut EP The Dreamers of The Dreams on cassette tape via Beautiful Strange, to welcome in 2014 they return with their new track "Paradise" and its simply wonderful....

The accompanying video takes place in an appropriate haze of shrouded fog as the quartets signature ethereal soundscapes melt hearts. A minimalistic melody is carried by crystalline synths and punctured drums which float with a slow-burning beauty around tantalising harmonies, the kind of gorgeous that should come with a warning sign.

"Paradise" can be downloaded for free via the Soundcloud link below - what are you waiting for.

The Sinclair Sinclair #4 - What If

thesinclairsinclair.tumblr.com

An increasingly reoccurring theme is that after lavishing praise on a band, for me later to have some involvement with them with Beautiful Strange, my little bedroom run (well it’s not really run from my bedroom, my like my work office) label / promoting name.

It’s only natural, I suppose, for me to pick bands I’ve had an impulsive reaction to post about and it gives me a buzz to see those acts later live or when the initial delivery of a release arrives. Swiftly following from the impeccable Souvenir Stand tape (forgetting my unwritten rule to cover bands I’m involved with superlatives) is the next release, a limited tape release with a band I've featured here almost from day one, Tallinn’s The Sinclair Sinclair

The tape is due to be released on July 1st (on clear cassettes) and brings together their beautiful The Dreamers of The Dreams EP with a new track from the same period, “What If”. You can listen to it below and if you’re interested in finding out more about the label / events (or even pre-ordering via Bandcamp) please head over to the Beautiful Strange website: http://www.beautifulstrange.co.uk/

Promo over! So many great posts to come later this week, music, you are treating us well.

The Sinclair Sinclair #3 - Everyone Around Me Is Desperate for Love

thesinclairsinclair.tumblr.com / thesinclairsinclair.bandcamp.com

I'm going to be using similar words now to my last post, sorry about that. I usually try and shift blogs around so two posts in a row aren't from the same genre, sometimes though I hear a track and need to (pretty much) instantly write about it, that's what has happened today...

The Sinclair Sinclair had me hooked from the word go, their debut release "Feel" wrapped soft, alluring textures around beautifully haunting, emotive soundscapes that glistened with crystalline synths and precise percussion. The result was rather bloody gorgeous. That was shortly followed by an equally ethereal EP The Dreamers of Dreams, where smouldering slow-motion melodies sent shivers down your spine, intoxicating and dreamlike. Now they return with a full band setup and a live video for one of the EP's tracks "Everyone Around Me Is Desperate for Love", which ;succinctly put is restrained, effortless and utterly, utterly brilliant.

Hopefully it's a sign of more 'live' things to come soon. I know I'll be one of the first listeners. You can download The Dreamers of Dreams EP via Bandcamp for free. If you haven't, do so, I guarantee it'll make your day all the better.

The Sinclair Sinclair #2 - The Dreamers Of The Dreams

thesinclairsinclair.bandcamp.com/ / thesinclairsinclair.tumblr.com

I gave a glowing 'new music' post to Estonian bedroom act The Sinclair Sinclair last November when their debut track "Feel" hooked me under its wings with a tantalisingly beautifully, dreamlike melody, last week the duo released the follow-up to that release, their debut EP, the four track self-released The Dreamers Of The Dreams (available to download free via bandcamp),.

It proves the superlatives thrown at "Feel" (included as the EP's closing track) were not used in vein, from the moment the opening track, "Dreamers of the Dreams" starts you are immersed fully in an intoxicating blend of rich, blissful vocals and subtle, minimalistic synth / guitar soundscapes.

The gorgeous, ethereal landscapes don't stop there, amongst an ever thumping bass and drifting vocals there is a chilly yet building sound on the marvellous "Pessoa" while the languid daydream of "Everyone Around Me Is Desperate for Love" is spine-tinglingly, a sound full of space and emotion that should soundtrack many a private, intimate moment.

Slow-burning melodies, truly beautiful, haunting vocals and immaculate instrumentation, The Sinclair Sinclair should be Estonia's finest export - download the EP whilst you can.
